We play Ray Grenfell’s interview with anti-fascist activist Barry Cade on the Melbourne fascist rally (and anti-fascist counter rally) from the weekend, as well as discussing tactics against fascism. We discuss groups like Reclaim Australia using Muslims and other minorities as scapegoats for the economic inequality caused by neoliberal policies, a hilarious denial of racism from a Reclaim Australia participant and equally hilarious in-fighting amongst white supremacists as a result of the resignation from the United Patriots Front by Sherman Burgess – he has been replaced by the Nazi Blair Cottrell.

Also covered is the “Islam is not a race” card that racists love to play, Radio National’s segment on Reclaim Australia and the United Patriots Front, and a Senate enquiry finds that Halal doesn’t fund terrorism – what a surprise! Nick is joined by Kathryn Joy for the whole episode and we discuss Reclaim Australia and the Rally Against Racism counter rallies. Reclaim Australia is an anti-Islamic movement with neo-Nazi links. There is an interview with Ray Grenfell, an anarchist activist and host of RTR92.1FM Indymedia, who discusses his experiences at the Melbourne Rally Against Racism and the importance of directly confronting fascists. Kathryn also discusses the Melbourne rally and Nick discusses his experiences at the Perth Rally Against Racism. We also play a couple of speeches from the Perth rally.
